History of the monument
Built from 1173, the Leaning Tower of Pisa was originally designed to be a straight bell tower. However, due to unstable ground, it began to lean in the early years of construction. Far from being a mistake, this lean has become its signature, transforming the building into a global icon. Even today, it remains a symbol of balance, perseverance, and Italian charm.
